I've heard that you've played a few marathons (extended periods of play), did your diabetes cause you any problems when you did this? What's the longest marathon of play that you've had? The longest marathon gambling match I have played was about 12 hours. I have a few 8 hour sessions under my belt as well. Practicing I can say that I have played for 16 hours or more, but there are breaks in between. My diabetes has never really been a problem, but I have had to eat and play and definitely check my blood sugar at some points in time.

What's the story behind the "mohawk"? I was just trying to make a statement I guess. I'm all for trying new things and it definitely made me stand out.

How is Sarah's last name pronounced? I have heard Rousey (like Rowzy) and also Rousey (like Roozie). Very good question.the best way to explain the pronunciation would be R-Ow (as in ow, that hurt) -Zee.  (Webmaster note:  Don't worry, even I still want to call her Sarah Rooozey!)

What is the most memorable single game of Pool you have played, and why? I have a lot of memorable games but one that stands out was playing Gerda (Hoftstatter) in Albuquerque, NM about three years ago. The score was 8-8, and I had ball in hand with five balls on the table. I was so scared I didn't get out. Then, after missing the 9-ball, I got another chance at it. I made an incredible shot to win the match. I don't think I have made the shot since. It is only so memorable because I can remember being so nervous. I remember everyone stopping their matches to watch and the people in the crowd seemed scared to take a breath. Most definitely I remember the fact that I had to stand up about four times before I shot because I felt that everyone could see my whole body shaking from nerves.

Is there a player you most enjoy playing against? Is there one that you dread playing and why? I can answer both questions at the same time. I enjoy playing the great players, the top four or five, but at the same time I dread playing them. I can learn a lot by watching the way they run out and the things they do. If it is in the early rounds, it is a little rough to run into one of them. But the only way to be the best is to beat the best.

What made you decided to pursue a career as a pool player? Ever since I started playing, I have loved the game. When I was younger, everyone said they always knew I would be a pro, but I was set on doing the normal thing - college, then work. I quit a few times as a teenager, only playing once a year or so, then college happened. During my first year of college, I didn't play much pool. Then at the beginning of my sophomore year there was a qualifier for a WPBA tournament. I played in the qualifier and won. As my mom would say, she saw the way my eyes lit up and how happy I was to be playing in a pro tournament and she knew that I finally found where I belonged. The rest is history. I worked hard and traveled a lot to make my way to the pro tour.

What are your thoughts regarding gambling in pool? I don't think it is a bad thing at all. Until pool becomes a sport that the participants are paid well, it will be a part of the game. It is the only way to supplement an income. I see the interest in poker and how it is not looked down upon, but it is gambling. I can say that hustling is something to be looked down upon. I think people need to realize the difference between the game now and the game in the past. Not only has it grown, but technology has definitely changed the way people gamble making it more honest.

What specific qualities or features are you looking for when you select your playing equipment? (break cue, playing cue, jump cue) I don't necessarily look for anything certain. If it feels good when I first try it out and if it still feels good a few weeks later, then I am happy. I have been very fortunate when it comes to equipment. I went into my current cue sponsorship with Barnhart Cues, blind and turned out to get the best playing cue I have ever had. When it comes to a break cue that is where I am a little more selective. I don't like the feel of the phenolic tip and I prefer to not have a wrap. Jump cue, I'm not great with a jump cue as it is, but it has to be lightweight and easy to use. Kind of like jump cues for dummies.

How tall are you? I am a giant ..5'1"

If you weren't playing pool, what else would you be doing? If I were not a pool player I would probably be sitting behind a desk somewhere or still in school. I have a desire to be an interior designer someday and to own my own business (most likely a pool room).
